Fidelity is the response of the true lover, who knows how to join Christ, Son of the Father and Savior of the world.

That love sometimes suffers injuries. In all human beings an evil is crouched that leads us to selfishness, to greed, to slob, to lukewarmness. That's why we fall so many times into sin.

True love asks for forgiveness, rises, rebuilds ties, returns even more enthusiastically to surrender. Because the loved one deserves everything, and because it is the truly beautiful life that keeps the flame of love lit.

In a world full of divorces, betrayals, deceit, fraud, fragile and unsteady pseudoamores, it brings great joy to find faithful husbands, generous priests, professionals who seriously face their daily duties.

Christ praised the beautiful virtue of fidelity, in small and great. "Well, good and faithful servant! in the little you have been faithful, at the forefront of the lot I will put you..." (cf. Mt 25:21). "To the victor, to him that remains faithful to my works to the end, I will give you power over the nations" (Rev 2:26).

From fidelity comes the testimony: "The faithfulness of the baptized is a primary condition for the proclamation of the Gospel and for the mission of the Church in the world" ("Catechism of the Catholic Church," n. 2044). Only if we are faithful will we be credible.

Fidelity, in short, is the answer of the true lover, who knows how to join Christ, Son of the Father and Savior of the world, to allow our time to be transformed by a torrent of hope, beauty and love perennial and contagious.
