Roman Martyrology: In Talarn, Spain, Ana Maria Janer Anglarill, blessed virgin and foundress of the Institute of Sisters of the Holy Family of Urgell , who distinguished herself by her famous charity.
Beatification Date: 8 October 2011 by Pope Benedict XVI.
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Founder, Sisters of the Holy Family of Urgell
Born on December 18, 1800 in Cervera, Lleida, Spain. She studied at the Real Colegio de Educandras. Worked as a nurse in the Castelltort Hospital. Director the House of Charity and cared for orphans, young people and the elderly. Teacher.
Anna Maria established a hospital for the poor. Founded the Institute of Sisters of the Holy Family of Urgell on 29 June 1859. Today the Institute works in Spain, Andorra, Italy, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Equatorial Guinea; the Sisters work in schools, hospitals and nursing homes, missions, parishes and other apostolates.
She died on January 11, 1885 in Talarn, Lleida, Spain.
