North Haven, CT -- (Catholic.net) -- 06/10/2010 – As the Year for Priests comes to a conclusion, Catholic.net extends an invitation to all priests to answer faith questions, write, and post videos or podcasts on its user-friendly URL.

Priests can broaden their pastoral outreach through Catholic.net, which currently serves an average of 1.5 million unique visitors per month. The lay apostolate is made possible by the generous work of more than 80 volunteers – religious and laypeople alike – and more than 30 partner ministries.

The invitation is a response to Pope Benedict’s message for the 44th World Communications Day on May 16. The Holy Father encouraged priests to “use the Internet at the service of the Word.” Click here to read the full message.

“Catholic.net is eager to serve as a home for all priests willing to evangelize online,” affirms Rosalia Tenorio, director of Catholic.net.

Catholic.net aims to form an online Catholic community committed to evangelize the world by building up the Kingdom of Christ through their families, parishes, dioceses, and general communities. To foster this commitment, Catholic.net promotes interaction among Catholics worldwide. A multimedia Internet portal, Catholic.net facilitates information sharing and offers interactive tools. Its mission is to serve as an online platform for building synergies among various apostolic initiatives.

Priests can use Catholic.net’s services entirely free of charge. Additionally, a hyperlinked logo of each volunteer, congregation, or diocese is added to their content in order to showcase their apostolic work.

More information about volunteer opportunities on Catholic.net is available at catholic.net/volunteers.

The laity is invited to support priests by joining the Adopt a Priest prayer chain at catholic.net/priests.
